Kalene Hospital
Kalene Mission Hospital is a 170-bed mission hospital in an underdeveloped rural area of Zambia’s North West Province. Patients come from as far away as Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In the second half of 2012, Dr John Woodfield, the medical team leader, is returning to New Zealand for family reasons. There is therefore an urgent need for a mission doctor to continue the development of the hospital.
The hospital includes a full range of services (medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, HIV medicine, tuberculosis programme, etc). It has a nursing school, training Zambia Enrolled nurses. Currently, there are over 70 nursing students.
The spiritual work is central to the purpose and daily work of the hospital. A team of local Christians provides chaplaincy services. General information about the hospital is available at www.kalenehospital.com.
