Prayer points

ANGOLA
Ruth Hadley
requests prayer for the believers at Luma Cassai, where one of the elders was recently killed by the village chief. The son of the man who was killed is the main nurse in the clinic there, and he is finding it difficult to stay in the village. The other elders have also been threatened. Pray that the believers will stay strong and not flee to the neighbouring cities of Luena or Saurimo. 16/8

Brian Howden will be visiting Angola from 24th August to 16th September. Pray for him as he travels around to give teaching and encourage the believers. 23/8

DEM. REP. OF CONGO
Mary Ratter’s
colleague Sandy Meikle will be spending four months on furlough in New Zealand from the end of August. Pray for Sandy as she travels and for Mary in her absence. 23/8

KENYA
John and Yokey Roberts
advise that the elections went off peacefully and there have been no reports of disturbances following the announcement of the results. Give thanks for this answer to prayer. 16/8

MALAWI
Jonathan Newell
plans to visit Australia from 18th to 31st August, at the invitation of a church which supports the Challenge newspaper. He will have many speaking engagements during this time and would value prayer. 16/8

Jonathan and Ruth and their children travel back to Malawi on 7th September. Pray for the family, especially Ruth, as they readjust to life in Africa. 6/9

MOZAMBIQUE
Pray for Zambian workers Patrick and Grace Mulenga, who have to renew their work permits before the end of August. 16/8

Zambian workers Chrissy and Susan Lukanga report that there have been sudden, dramatic price increases for all commodities in Mozambique. People have responded with strikes, destruction of property and looting, resulting in seven deaths and many being injured. Although this has now stopped, there is still unease among the people. Pray that the country will soon come out of this difficult economic period. 6/9

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA
Paul and Dorothy Grieve
would value prayer for two young girls from the Sunday school who have requested baptism. They have clear testimonies and their parents have given their consent, so the baptisms will take place on 29th August. Pray that family members will attend the service and hear the Word of God. 23/8

TANZANIA
We have been informed that Margaret Dalton has recently fallen and shattered her hip. She is in hospital in Cheltenham but doctors are hesitant to operate. Pray for her as she is in a lot of pain. 16/8

ZAMBIA
Stephen and Jo Grove
ask us to pray for a member of the youth group who was caught stealing from the mission building two weeks ago. He made a profession of faith a couple of years ago, but it seems doubtful that he was sincere. Pray that the Lord will speak to him through this experience. Pray also for two brothers, Harold and Hastings, who are currently studying at the GLO Bible school. They want to organise a mission when they return to Chingola in November. They are very keen to promote youth ministry and see more young people coming to hear the gospel regularly. 31/8

We have been informed that Mavis Knowles went to be with the Lord on 27th August. Please remember family members and friends in your prayers during the coming days. 31/8

Emily Rowntree and Eva Warke have requested prayer for the three-day conference being held at Loloma, which starts on 24th August. Wilma Geddis is sending out a truck to collect people from isolated assemblies. Pray that they will be encouraged by this opportunity to meet with other Christians. David Croudace is one of the speakers. Pray for him and the others who are taking part. 23/8
